Classic Bathroom Look

It’s always a relief once a bathroom home improvement project is finished and you have a whole new look to a room. If you love the new look, but don’t always like the work and expense that remodeling takes, why not consider adopting a permanent palette of white in your bathroom? Having a basic white color scheme allows you to swap out your accessories any time you want for a new look.

Before you equate the color white with boring, realize that a white bathroom will always look fresh and will make whatever colorful accessories you choose really pop. While you may not want to choose this color scheme for the kids’ bathroom, it’s perfect for a master bath or guest bathroom.

First of all, paint the walls a bright white. Try Dutch Boy DW202 Lambswool White or Dutch Boy DW01 Soap Bubbles. Both are warm colors that will infuse the room with a clean, warm color.

Now let’s consider your countertop. Nothing says classic like marble. Realize that a marble top will be a pricey investment for your bathroom remodel, but one that you will be able to keep for a long time. The price adds up on marble because most companies charge a hefty price to fabricate the cut outs for the sink and then to deliver the piece to your home, in addition to the price of the marble itself.

Set that piece of marble on top of a gleaming white vanity.  If you already have a vanity that is still in good shape, you could paint it white and put a sealer on it to protect the paint from water splashes. If you need a new vanity, shop around for a sale, and watch for moving and remodeling sales, and you may be able to score a great find on a quality piece.

To keep the theme going for your bathroom floor, consider marble bathroom tiles. They generally start at about $5.99 sq. ft. and go up from there. If you want to, you could purchase radiant floor heating to install under the marble for the colder months of the year.

Finally, you’ll want to purchase all white fixtures (toilet and tub) if you don’t already have them. While these bath remodeling suggestions are not initially budget-friendly, keep in mind that you are creating the foundation of a room that with care will last for many years. Now you will simply be able to change out the colors of your accessories to change the look of the room.
